It is important to note the fact that Medic Higgins was almost half a century old when she served active duty during WWII and also served as U.S. Army Medic at the San Bernardino Army Air Corps Base located in the California desert.

|
Clarine was a formidable teacher and had a phenomenal memory of the years she spent during her service in the military as well as those she spent in Los Angeles and California at large during the 19th and 20th centuries.

|
Medic Clara B. Higgins recognized Southern California as a desert community and taught often about the fact that Pico's Angelenos were supplied water by her parents' wells during the 1800's in Los Angeles.
Angelenos Alice Louella Slosson Bragg and Alice Louella Bragg Messerli, Clarine's Mother and Older Sister, are both buried at Valhalla Memorial Park, Portal of the Folded Wings, Shrine to Pioneers of Aviation, # 317, in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Dr. Benjamin Franklin Bragg, (B: 1819, D: 1915), is buried at Los Angeles' Oldest Cemetery, Evergreen, #32, near Brooklyn and Evergreen Streets.
